From March, 2021, all privately owned, diesel-engined cars will be banned from the centre of Bristol in an attempt at improving air quality. The ban, to run between 07:00 and 15:00, was approved by the city council this week.

Bristol City Mayor, Marvin Rees, said that the council had a “moral, ecological and legal duty” to reduce pollution after the proposal was passed by the city council on Tuesday evening (November, 12th).

Drivers that break the ban are expected to be fined.

The proposals have yet to be approved by the government.
